AVTEC is proud to offer the new training suite, Building Maintenance and Construction. These short, intensive courses will support the facilities maintenance and construction industries.

Students who don't want to major in construction management can still learn the fundamentals by taking 20 credits to earn a minor. They'll learn how to determine the economic feasibility of a project, plan construction, schedule the project, control the associated costs and manage all financial aspects of the project.

Plumbing apprentices the opportunity to learn in hands-on courses, and covers a major portion of the academic requirements of an apprenticeship.

This qualification is primarily aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience and other allied professionals, e.g., surveyors, consultants, and other trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of IET Wiring Regulations.

Plumbing and Heating Technicians are in demand throughout Alaska, in both urban and in rural areas. As a result, graduates of the Plumbing and Heating program enjoy excellent job opportunities and good pay. Plumbing and Heating students receive basic training in construction and maintenance of plumbing and heating systems.

The HVAC/R–MAR Technician Program provides installation, repair, and maintenance training for the heating, ventilating air conditioning, and refrigeration. The program also provides installation and repair training for the major appliance industry.

Upon completing this program, students will be able to assemble, install, and repair light equipment and building wiring.

The Air Conditioning Technology Program concentrates on teaching students how to design, build, and maintain advanced climate control systems, such as heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.

The Electronic Systems Technician (EST) program teaches students the basic skills for entry-level employment in the commercial or residential communication, security, fire alarm, integrated control, entertainment, or surveillance systems.

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Program's mission is to provide specialized classroom instruction and practical shop experience to prepare individuals for employment as entry-level air conditioning and refrigeration technician.

The Electrical Installation Program is a 30-week comprehensive program that prepares a student to enter the electrical field by familiarizing students with residential and commercial electrical trade principles. Students receive the necessary classroom and lab instruction on the subject that is being taught during each section of the course.

The Comprehensive Plumbing Program is a 30-week all-inclusive program that prepares a student to enter the plumbing field by familiarizing students with residential and commercial plumbing trade principles. During each instruction section, the students receive the necessary classroom and lab instruction on the subject that is being taught.

The Electrical Technology Program at Pearl River Community College is designed to lead to a Career Certificate, Technical Certificate, or an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Technology. The program prepares individuals to install, operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems such as residential, commercial, and industrial electrical wiring, and conduit systems, commercial lighting, DC motors, AC motors, motor controls, programmable logic control, and electrical distribution panels. Instruction includes in-depth training in many aspects of the electrical field. In the classroom, students learn electrical theory, blueprint reading, and mathematics pertaining to the field of electrical technology, electrical code requirements, and safety.

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program offers students the training and skills needed to install, service, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
