The Automotive Engineering program will give graduates a systemic view of automotive engineering to prepare for a career in planning, design, construction, maintenance and disposal of automotive systems such as automobiles, trucks, buses, motorcycles and other road vehicles, whether self-propelled, conventional or special. Graduates can also work in interdisciplinary areas of engineering, such as mechanical, electrical, production, mechatronics, metallurgical, materials, transportation and logistics, and infrastructure, all related to automotive engineering.

This programme is aimed at learners who have completed the Level 2 automotive engineering programme and wish to further develop their craft and practical skills, with a view to progressing to apprenticeships and employment. This programme is designed for learners who have successfully completed the Level 2 Automotive Engineering programme and are now seeking to advance their skills and knowledge to pursue apprenticeships or employment in the automotive industry.

Automotive Glass Technicians remove, install, repair and generally service all types of stationary and movable glass in motor vehicles and associated equipment. The Automotive Glass Technician Apprenticeship program provides comprehensive training for individuals interested in pursuing a career in automotive glass repair and replacement.

Automotive Refinishing Technicians work on the surfaces of motor vehicles, primarily restoring vehicle finishes once body work has been completed. As of April 1, 2021, apprentices who complete Automotive Collision and Refinishing common core Level 1 can enter Level 2 of the Automotive Refinishing Technician Apprenticeship.

Automotive Service Technicians possess a full range of knowledge and abilities required to perform preventative maintenance, diagnose problems and repair vehicle systems including engines, vehicle management, hybrids, steering, braking, tires, wheels, drivetrains, suspension, electrical, electronics, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), restraints, trim and accessories of automotive vehicle and light trucks with a gross vehicle weight less than 5,500 kg.

The Automotive Refinishing Prep Technician Apprenticeship program is designed to train individuals in the skills and techniques required to prepare vehicles for refinishing, including surface preparation, masking, priming, and detailing. Apprentices in this program learn to work with a variety of materials and equipment to ensure the quality and durability of automotive finishes.

Gain the skills and training needed to meet the requirements to write the Certification of Qualification exam. Earn while you learn. This program is run in a day release format to allow the apprentice to continue to work in the trade while learning one day per week. This training is a stepping stone to several other trades.

Short courses may be free of charge if you are eligible under the Pound Plus and Fee Remittance Policy. For those not eligible there is a course fee of £25. Bike maintenance aimed at students that have either completed beginners or have some experience with fixing bikes (eg can change tyres, fix punctures and fit brakes). The course covers how to fix punctures, carry out safety checks, maintain your bike and change brakes and brake cables. More advanced learners will learn how to change gear cables, calibrate gears, change bearings and more.
