The Winter School "Prognostication in the Middle Ages: Philosophical Strategies to Deal with Uncertainties", organized by Prof. Stefano Perfetti (University of Pisa), is part of a co-research initiative within a PRIN PNRR (Research Project of National Interest, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research). The project focuses on "Social, Political, and Religious Prognostication and its Roots: Philosophical Strategies for Coping with Uncertainties and Planning the Future", prot. P2022BMJ5A.

Currently, majors may choose from among three concentrations: art historical/archaeological, historical, or literary/mythological. With the help of an advisor, you can select courses from among a range of offerings in the departments of classics and Italian, art history, Asian studies, philosophy, politics, and religion.

Or maybe you’ve just always really liked those action movies set in ancient Greece and Rome! Whatever catches your interest, Ancient Studies at Nipissing will take you deep into the ancient world.

The study of art & art history is central to a liberal arts education, especially in a world increasingly shaped by images and seemingly endless visual information.

Since ancient times, man has felt attracted to the stars and began to think about a connection between their course and the experiences of his life. This reflection has evolved in history and, between moments of favor and moments of ostracism, it has been practiced over the centuries until an articulated and complex discipline has established itself, but always based on the principle that what happens on earth can be correlated to the movement of celestial bodies. Currently, the study of Astrology has deepened the research, finalizing it to the knowledge of all aspects of human life: through an original investigation on the character, qualities, objectives, and future prospects of individuals; then pushing his interpretation also towards inanimate entities (such as houses, companies, events), up to the study of historical periods.

The Regular Member program runs the full academic year, from early September to early June. It is an integrated participatory program offering advanced graduate students, from a variety of fields, an intensive survey of the art, archaeology, history, and topography of Greece, from antiquity to the present. Regular Members are expected to be in residence in Athens throughout the nine-month academic year. Students receive comprehensive training through visits to the principal archaeological sites and museums of Greece as well as in seminars led by resident and visiting scholars. They also take part in the training program at the Corinth excavations.
