This college intends to prepare Cosmetology students with the necessary skills to meet the demand of the industry through exposure to practical, theoretical, and hands experience, safety and sanitary precautions, salon management, state laws, and first aid.

This AAS degree is a two-year program designed for students who want to pursue a career in Cosmetology.

Galveston College’s cosmetology program is designed to train students in performance skills, safety, judgments, work habits, and to develop advantageous attitudes necessary to achieve high degrees of success.

The Cosmetology program provides graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to pass the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Examination and function as competent cosmetologists.

The Cosmetology Program prepares students for a career as a cosmetologist working in the beauty industry. In our modern student salon, which won Modern Salon Media’s School Facilities Award, students practice advanced techniques such as balayage, hair painting, color, highlights, keratin treatments, advanced haircutting, and formal styling.

The TONI&GUY Cosmetology program focuses on our Classics curriculum including 11 cut and nine color techniques. Students graduate with a fundamental education in hairdressing, with expertise in products, makeup, skincare, and an understanding of the salon experience as well as how to further their professional development.

You’ll learn as much as you want to about cosmetology. You can get the basics and get to work, or you can learn enough to be able to own your own salon.

Express your creativity and gain real-world experience as a part of our in-depth, multifaceted cosmetology school. In this program, you’ll learn how to cut, color, and style hair using signature Aveda techniques and products. We’ll also cover makeup application, nail care, and business development.

The primary purpose of the Cosmetology courses is to train the student in basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits and desirable attitudes necessary for entry level positions in Cosmetology or related career avenue. Our Cosmetology Courses consist of 1500 hours of instruction of both theoretical and practical skill development required for licensure by the Department of Regulatory Agencies. Theory and practice precede laboratory activities and students must complete the theory and practical for each exercise in the Basic Freshman curriculum and receive a passing grade on each exercise before being allowed to participate in laboratory activities. Theory and practice are integrated throughout the course. The Office of Barber and Cosmetologist Licensing/designated testing agency conducts all examinations in English and applicants shall submit answers in English. All education and learning environments in our school are conducted in English, to include classroom activity and clinic floor education.

With training in the Cosmetology program, you’ll have a cosmetologist's skills, which include makeup, styling, and all aspects of skin and nail care. Additionally, you’ll also be a professionally trained hairstylist. As a Cosmetologist, you’ll be able to create the total look from hair color to nail polish.

Prepare for a career as a salon manager, skincare specialist, or esthetician in our Cosmetology program.

The cosmetology curriculum is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. The curriculum provides a simulated salon environment that enables students to develop manipulative skills. Course work includes instruction in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skincare, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics. Graduates should qualify to sit for the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates will be issued a license. Employment is available in beauty salons and related businesses.

Cosmetology is a new joint study programme, conducted in English, jointly with the Academy of Cosmetics and Health Care in Warsaw (in Polish Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa Kosmetyki i Pielęgnacji Zdrowia w Warszawie, hereinafter – WSZKiPZ).

The Cosmetology program provides training in hair, skin and nails. Classes will be held between 4 and 7 hours daily on a year-round basis in order to meet the state requirement for completion. Training during the first semester is an introduction to all subject areas and is achieved through theoretical learning in the classroom and hands-on learning in the laboratory setting. Intermediate and advanced training is the combination of theory pertaining to cosmetology and clinical training which is achieved through a clinical set-up with students working on patrons and/or mannequins.
