This industry encompasses individuals from a varied educational and professional training background with diverse mind-set. Hence, they have different perceptions for the similar problems and situations. This leads to issues like delay in construction, cost escalation, substandard construction quality, variations etc. Hence, it is very important to have a judicious control of the cost time and quality. Considering the above factors, Middle East College in partnership with Coventry University has taken the initiative to offer the ‘Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Construction Project and Cost Management’. The programme address to the rapid cultural change in the construction industry towards less adversarial approaches to project management and continuing professional development. The course will attract a wider range of construction professionals engaged in construction/project management, quantity surveying, civil and structural engineering, architectural technology, surveying and building services engineering. This course also addresses the core skills and competencies as set out by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for construction project managers, construction cost managers and quantity surveyors.

The student should complete the coursework requirements specified in the degree plan with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. For the thesis, the candidate is required to conduct the necessary literature review, undertake the research, analyze the results, write the report and communicate the results at an oral defense. This work need not necessarily be original research but should be a new application of ideas. The student should identify the research problem in consultation with the supervisor, which normally takes place in the second semester. The student should or can register for the thesis in the third semester after having completed at least 12 credits of the course work.

This is a four year degree program for those who want to gain knowledge in quantity surveying and cost management to pursue a career in industry or continue in graduate studies. The degree is awarded after the successful completion of 125 credit hours of undergraduate work listed in the curriculum below, including compulsory industrial internship and project study courses.
