Computer Science BSc students acquire knowledge that enables them to create, introduce, operate, service, develop and implement software-oriented IT devices and systems on their own or as members of a team. They learn how to design, analyze and apply algorithms using the most important paradigms, and study basic software development methodologies and technologies.

The Master of Science (M.Sc.) programs offered at The Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) are not restricted to those who received their B.Sc. diplomas in engineering at BME. These programs are open to all students who receive diplomas in mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering or transportation engineering at any of the Hungarian or foreign institutions of higher education.

The BSc in Computer Science line offers a full 3-year education in computer science and programming. The aim of the course is to educate students who will be able to work in the IT sector as coders or software developers or continue their studies at a master's (MSc) level. The basic courses include Discrete mathematics, Calculus, Linear algebra, Numerical analysis, Probability and Statistics, Mathematical logic, System design, Programming methodology, Programming languages, Software Technology, Computer architecture, Operating systems, Networking, Theory of databases, etc.

The aim of the programme is to educate computer science professionals who are capable of developing, installing, maintaining, and operating software-oriented IT systems and tools, as well as participating in and coordinating research and development activities. The programme also provides a solid theoretical foundation that enables graduates to continue their studies at MSc level.

The specialty of the computer science engineer training at the University of Nyíregyháza is that we devote a large number of hours to practicing the operation tasks of computer networks and the development tasks of the IoT (Internet of Things).

The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics offers a 6-semester Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science. Students in the program will learn the principles and practices of software design and development.

The objective is to train Computer Scientists with professional knowledge based on a solid theoretical background. They have the skills to take part in software development, in developing information systems, and in system management in various areas. Computer Scientists often act as mediators between the customers of information systems and the producers.

The new MSc in Computer Science Engineering is one of the most important programs at our Faculty. It aims to provide engineers from technical disciplines relevant to information technology sciences with the skills to pursue a career in computer and information engineering. The program involves a deep understanding of the theory and practice of information, the study of information acquisition, systems, and technical methodologies, and their applications in engineering. The main areas of study include developments in intelligent systems and multiprocessor technology.

The BSc in Computer Science Engineering provides the students with an educational profile that combines in-depth informatics competence with a solid knowledge in computer science. The core content comprises engineering, informatics, and business subject matters.

This program is recommended for future students who want to build a firm basis for their further studies in the BSc program of Computer Science. Students who get admitted to Computer Science BSc but cannot reach the minimum level in the entrance examination, will also be redirected to our Preliminary Course.

The objective of the BSc in Computer Science Engineering is to train and educate engineers who are able to install, exploit, and maintain information technology-based systems and services, including the design and development of the necessary software systems as well.

Main research areas: Artificial intelligence, digital reality, discrete mathematics & optimization, dynamic systems & control, image & signal processing, medical & health informatics. PhD students conduct independent research under a professor, present at conferences, participate in projects, and must publish at least two papers in refereed international journals.

The students receive strong theoretical, research methodology, and scientific backgrounds, and complete their research individually, with some guidance from their supervisors.
