The purpose of the Doctor of Health Sciences in Complementary Medicine is to provide the qualifying student with advanced analytical problem-solving and reflective competencies in the field of complementary medicine (CM) and to enable them to act as a leader within the CM research field. This will be achieved by making an original contribution to the knowledge content of CM through independent research.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop a graduate competent in the knowledge, attitudes, insight and skills required for diagnosing and treating patients in the field of CM as well as formulating comprehensive management plans for health promotion.

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the qualifying student with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies required to successfully consult, and treat pre-diagnosed patients and communicate holistic advice to patients. The graduate will be a team player capable of working in multidisciplinary teams to promote the profession.

The Bachelor of Science in Integrative Health Sciences (BSiHS) program features four core threads: integrative health sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, and critical thinking. The integrative health sciences thread focuses on prevention and wellness, exercise science, mind-body medicine, nutrition, and botanical medicine.

This doctoral specialization cultivates an integrative approach to professional development in the art and science of therapeutic practice.
