At Berkeley City College we offer a two-year (four-semester) Analytical Chemistry program designed to provide individuals with the analytical skills needed for entry-level employment as laboratory technicians in those institutions. At the same time, the Analytical Chemistry program at BCC also prepares students for transfer to four-year colleges or universities.

In pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, students receive a strong foundation in analytical, physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry before selecting one of three options leading to the degree: biochemistry and natural products, environmental chemistry, or natural and synthetic polymer chemistry.

The B.A. in Chemistry with Secondary Teaching Licensure, developed in collaboration with the College of Education, meets the North Carolina requirements for secondary (grades 9-12) teaching licensure in Chemistry. Students seeking teaching licensure should consult with a co-advisor in the Department of Middle, Secondary, and K-12 Education in the College of Education for detailed planning of their professional education coursework.

The Physical Science Degree is designed to give the student breadth in the physical sciences while providing considerable strength in one of the specialized physical science fields.
