The Middlebury Institute Language Program Administration (LPA) certificate and specialization prepare students for administrative roles in language programs or schools. The program focuses on skills specific to administration within a language program context and covers directing language programs, training teachers and aides, evaluating program effectiveness, budgeting, and marketing.

The specialization program is designed for Middlebury Institute students who are pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching Foreign Language and who want to add a TESOL specialization to their coursework so that they are also eligible to teach English. Students pursuing other Institute degree programs can also choose to add a TESOL specialization to their coursework to provide broader professional expertise and additional career avenues in language education and curriculum design.

Through this 12-credit specialization for students taking language studies courses, you will greatly develop your proficiency in your target language. A global workforce needs and rewards professionals who have engaged in serious and transformative language development.

Our low-residency program is intentionally designed so that you can attend classes without giving up your current job. Complete four online modules, and then attend a final one-week residency in Monterey. Choose to specialize in either legal or medical interpreting.
