This program features small, interactive classes, real-time instruction (either in-person, or on Zoom), free access to software for remote use, and free access to designated campus labs.

Certificate of Achievement in Hospitality comprised of intensive eight-week courses, part-time students who enroll in two courses per semester will be able to complete the certificate in two years. Those who enroll full-time will be able to complete both the certificate and the degree in two years. Fully accredited by the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH and LA), students will receive AH and LA course certificates for each course they successfully complete. Students who earn this SBCC certificate will also qualify for the Hospitality Operations Certificate from the AH and LA.

This program is offered primarily online, however, during the first semester, students will attend a hands-on skills demonstration and simulation weekend on campus. During those three eight-hour sessions, students will navigate different acute care stations and scenarios with access to critical care materials to practice and demonstrate competencies in caring for acute care patients.

And since it is available at our Deerfield campus, entirely online, and through our extension sites, you gain another layer of flexibility. Honors courses foster scholarship and individual, creative thought. The Honors program provides the opportunity to develop the skills of critical thinking, expository and argumentative writing, and effective oral communication. Challenging outside research, stimulating field trips, and sophisticated literature prepares students to contribute to the development of the ideas and themes of the Honors courses. Over the last four years, Honors has hosted a campus-wide conference on essential topics such as revolution and the environment. Honors students help select the papers and run the meeting. They contribute creative ideas to the conference’s opening ceremony and then help select papers for publication on our online Honors website.

The Musical Theatre Program is a dynamic training experience for students who seek a professional career in Musical Theatre. The curriculum is fundamentally craft-based, offering rich and intensive courses in singing, acting, music, and dancing. We also have a commitment to bringing in guest artists and other visiting professionals to complement our existing curriculum. Our comprehensive course of study requires that students who successfully complete the program must be motivated, committed, hard workers, as well as gifted. Students must demonstrate continued progress and development and pass ongoing faculty evaluations in order to remain in the program. Performance opportunities include Performance Riverside, a semi-professional theatre located on the campus of Riverside City College, which is home to a season of three productions each year, and, our flexible black box space which produces 1-2 productions each year.

This program prepares students for basic careers in Graphic Communication. This includes instruction in all phases of project creation and production, using the latest equipment and software available. Classes are structured to give strong academic and hands-on experience in print design, production, and finishing.

This certificate prepares students for careers in electronic publishing and web design. This includes instruction in basic web design, page layout, vector graphics, photo manipulation, file preparation, republishing, and interactive design, using the latest equipment and software available.

This program prepares individuals to communicate information, entertainment and ideas through animation and cinematic arts. This includes practical, hands-on instruction in how to plan and produce a variety of animated works seeing the project through from concept to practice including but not limited to storyboarding, directing, editing, and all aspects of animation film production.

The objective is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits to pursue positions in various business fields. The curriculum provides a solid foundation in general business. Studying in this area will help students develop teamwork and leadership skills as well as the ability to motivate people and communicate effectively.
