Public health management is a branch of the public health profession that involves the management of threats to public health. This course is designed to cover the issue related to family and population health with emphasis on potential risks and vulnerable groups. In the community, in this course the student will explore the population cycle, measuring the population model of family nursing, and assessing the socioeconomic and cultural factors that influence population and family health. This course will provide educational and clinical learning experiences on the principles of community health, public and family health nursing, this course covers public health methods applied in a family assessment based intervention.

This course is designed to equip the student with advanced knowledge in the application of descriptive and inferential statistics in public health. The focus will be on need and uses of statistics in public health and medicine. Specific topics include, concept of the variables, graphical and diagrammatical presentations of various data, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, basic probability concepts and distribution, testing of hypothesis for single and two means and proportion, Analysis of variance. This course also emphasizes on the importance of correlation, correlation coefficient and regression (linear, logistic and other non nonlinear) in analysing public health data. The importance of data reduction and application of principal component analysis also included. This course will help students to develop advanced skills in analysing and interpreting data from Health, Allied Health, Public Health settings.

This course offers the concepts and points of view of epidemiology. It provides highly specialized knowledge in the field of public health epidemiology, giving importance to various methods of assessing factors associated with the distribution and etiology of diseases and health-related events in a community. Skills include approaches to identifying and evaluating sources of health information, calculating key epidemiologic metrics, epidemiologic investigation techniques, and evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of different study designs. The course also provides methods to detect health-related events as early as possible through screening techniques. Public health surveillance, observation, monitoring, screening, hypothesis formulation and testing, descriptive, analytical and experimental research and forecasting are part of epidemiology.

This course generally introduces the concept of health and disease and allows you to plan and evaluate strategies to prevent disease. It covers the different approaches and methods for applying acquired knowledge to the control of diseases through prevention and treatment, resulting in the preservation of public health.
