This Certificate of Higher Education in Mathematical Sciences provides the basic skills you need for further study in mathematics and statistics and is ideal if you need some mathematics to underpin your studies in other areas. You’ll be introduced to pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics; using mathematical software; working with abstract ideas; and modelling real-world problems using mathematics.

This is one of several subject combinations available in our Certificate of Higher Education in Computing & IT and a second subject (T13) – you’ll divide your time equally between the two subjects. The Certificate in Introductory Mathematics meets the required components for the Subject Matter Authorization: Introductory Mathematics. Completion of this program allows individuals who hold a valid California teaching credential to apply for the Subject Matter Authorization: Introductory Mathematics for teaching the content matter up through ninth grade mathematics. This certificate may be earned by regularly matriculated or extended learning students.

GED® (General Educational Development) preparation classes are available to assist and prepare students to pass the Official GED® Tests, earn a State of Florida High School Diploma and successfully transition to postsecondary education or career advancement.

Core Maths is for students who have achieved a Grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths and who need to be equipped for the mathematical and quantitative demands of HE courses or employment. It is part of the Government's plan to increase participation in maths post-16, helping to raise the UK's mathematical standards. The ambition is for the majority of students to continue studying maths until the age of 18 by 2020.
