The NESE On-Line Self-Study system offers you the complete and extremely popular 10-level Grammar & Idioms course. NESE On-Line Self-Study is a program that allows you to take classes on a schedule of your choice. You can study at whatever speed you want, for example doing 2 hours of English one day and just 20 minutes the next. It is entirely up to you.

The American Sign Language and Deaf Studies Certificate of Completion Program are designed for individuals who currently have a college degree (Associate degree or higher) and are interested in the fields of Deaf Studies, linguistics, communications, psychology, social work, rehabilitation, education of the Deaf and other related areas.

The Chinese Studies program offers up to five years of Mandarin Chinese language courses in addition to courses that explore Chinese literature, cinema, and culture through a range of disciplines.

The Language Department at Lane Community College offers courses in French, Spanish, and American Indian Languages. This curriculum prepares individuals to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL), primarily with persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. Students also study the U.S. Deaf community from a cultural perspective.

The Middlebury Institute Language Program Administration (LPA) certificate and specialization prepare students for administrative roles in language programs or schools. The program focuses on skills specific to administration within a language program context and covers directing language programs, training teachers and aides, evaluating program effectiveness, budgeting, and marketing.

This program is designed to prepare individuals for jobs providing support services to the deaf/hard of hearing. Note: It is not a sign language interpreter program. Emphasis will be on using American Sign Language (ASL). To be accepted to the program, applicants must meet the requirements for admission listed in the catalog.

The specialization program is designed for Middlebury Institute students who are pursuing a Master of Arts in TESOL and who want to add a TFL specialization to their coursework so that they are also eligible to teach a foreign language. Students pursuing other Institute degree programs can also choose to add a TFL specialization to their coursework to provide broader professional expertise and additional career avenues in language education and curriculum design.

The Certificate of Achievement in French Language and Culture is designed to offer students the opportunity to discover another culture and to help Francophile students broaden theirs. It is also suitable for students with French links. The certificate enables students to engage with the growing French-speaking communities in the Bay Area and to travel, study, work or get involved with businesses in 29 different countries. The certificate will satisfy a language transfer requirement and could be used in graduate work across multiple fields such as anthropology, art, history and linguistics.

The Certificate of Achievement in Italian Language and Culture offers opportunities to appreciate the Italian language and culture, as well as dig into the interconnections between Italian culture, Latin American culture and Italian American culture. Italian is an excellent major or minor for those who plan to pursue graduate work in areas such as philosophy, anthropology, history, linguistics or business. Understanding the diversity of cultural, historical and social contexts in the Italian-speaking world will provide new insights and a critical lens. The certificate will enhance the multicultural education that De Anza aims to foster and will open additional opportunities for students who plan to study abroad.

Add the Bilingual Extension to your New York State certification! This program is for current teachers who wish to work in dual language/transitional bilingual education classrooms, as well as with students receiving English as a New Language (ENL) services in general education classrooms.

The online Certificate in Professional Translation and Interpreting is designed for students with high proficiency in English and at least one spoken Language Other Than English (LOTE) who are interested in developing language mediation skills to meet the needs of an increasingly globalized world.

The Certificate in Interpreter Training Preparation program Agencies throughout the United States look to hire trained and credentialed interpreters who are certified members of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), a national membership organization that plays a leading role in advocating for excellence in the delivery of interpretation and transliteration services between people who use sign language and people who use spoken language.
