Since 1945, the United Nations has served as a vital arena for international diplomacy. Our certificate program in UN Studies offers a deep understanding of the UN and how it operates, including the promise and limits of international cooperation. Over the course of the program, you'll become well-versed in how the policy community utilizes — and seeks to reform — the UN.

Students enrolled in the Certificate programme will study concepts and approaches that are foundational for analysing politics and international relations, and they are able to choose from a range of disciplinary and regional modules that enables them to design a programme tailored to their specific interests. This programme does not involve writing a dissertation.

Combining law with French, German or Spanish is both stimulating and a smart career move. You’ll divide your study equally between both subjects. It offers a broad grounding in key concepts associated with law and in the use of your chosen language. This Certificate of Higher Education in Arts and Humanities provides a broad introduction to the arts and humanities, including history, art history, philosophy, classical studies, religious studies, music and English. You can qualify by maintaining a GPA of 3.5 in your major, and completing 24-25 units of upper-division coursework in biblical studies and biblical languages.

This Certificate of Higher Education in Language Studies offers a flexible introduction to the study of languages, introduces you to key concepts in language learning, and develops your study skills. You can choose French, German, and Spanish at beginner and intermediate levels, or you can increase your knowledge and skills in using English for academic study.

The Higher Certificates (HC) courses at AFDA are 1-year NQF level 5 programs designed to lay a foundation of basic skills and learning to enter the creative economy at an assistant level, as well as enable further access to degree level education for the first year in the BA or BCom degrees at AFDA. The Higher Certificate in Film, Television and Entertainment Production focuses on basic technical and/or production skills important for the running of a film or television set.

The General Arts and Science one-year certificate at George Brown College is designed for students who wish to develop the skills and competencies required in college, university, and the workplace. As a student in this program, you will explore subjects within humanities, social sciences, and science and mathematics; develop skills in critical thinking, oral and written communications, and career development; and acquire knowledge and explore ideas in a range of disciplines to meet your needs and interests. Students who meet GPA requirements may transfer into the two-year diploma program, which has established pathways to a number of universities.
