The executive short course is about Gender Equality and Women Empowerment. Women are still often worse off than men, and therefore including a focus on women empowerment will be instrumental to closing the gender gap. In order for gender equality to improve, women’s and men’s needs and opportunities need to be addressed not only at the community level but also system-wide. Attention to gender and women empowerment-related issues and institutionalization is therefore important. The program will address a number of relevant issues, ranging from strategy and policy towards agency and constraints at the individual level and ways to overcome these.

TCU’s interdisciplinary department of Women & Gender Studies puts women, gender, and sexuality at the center of academic investigation. The department promotes inquiry into the intersections of gender with other identity categories; the workings of power in society; and the means of advancing social justice and equality. Through research, teaching and learning, and collaboration, the program foster feminist and interdisciplinary analysis across social, historical, cultural and global contexts, products and practices.

Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies is a multidisciplinary program that explores the many facets of gender and sexuality.

The undergraduate certificate is designed to encourage students to acquire a more thorough background in contemporary interdisciplinary scholarship in feminist and gender studies, and to incorporate feminist perspectives and issues into their major fields of specialization.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder is an interdisciplinary program that involves the academic investigation of sexuality in established fields such as literature, history, theatre, law, medicine, economics, sociology, anthropology and political science.
