Georgetown's English Skills for Graduate Students is a three-week course open to non-native English speakers who have been accepted into a U.S. graduate program. Designed to reactivate your study skills and increase your readiness for graduate-level coursework, this course will prepare you for success in your academic pursuits. You’ll develop practical techniques and effective strategies for communicating in a fast-paced environment, navigating an American classroom environment, and working with large amounts of information.

For students needing to advance their English language skills, SMK offers English Foundation. The duration of the program is one or, if needed, two semesters. After completing the program you will bring your language level to the upper intermediate level which is required to study at SMK. The program is available every semester starting Fall and Spring and is delivered full-time.

The CELTA will open the door to a rewarding and enriching career in English teaching that can take you all over the world.

Students, whose first language is not English, will be well prepared for success in Canadian universities upon completion of our EAP program. With a focus on English for academic purposes, the core courses develop language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar.

This Certificate of Higher Education in English Language explores human communication by focusing on the English language, its history, diversity and flexibility. You’ll learn what distinguishes machine language from human language, and how people adapt and change their ways of communicating in multilingual and multicultural contexts.

Designed for students interested in pursuing degrees in the U.S., Georgetown’s Intensive Academic English program will help you make the transition to academic life at an American college or university. Our program features full-time intensive courses that emphasize academic writing, reading, grammar, and communication.

Designed for students with intermediate- or advanced-level English proficiency, our American Language & Culture program combines classroom instruction, language lab work, conversation workshops, and cultural excursions into an immersive four-week learning experience. By the end of the program, you'll have not only advanced English language skills but also a deeper understanding of American lifestyles and culture.

Create a digital portfolio documenting your language learning process and experiences outside the classroom on virtual and in-person class trips to museums, galleries, and other creative spaces throughout New York City. Wo zwei unterschiedliche Sprachen aufeinandertreffen, sind Missverständnisse und Unklarheiten nicht weit. Als Sprachprofi ist es Ihre Aufgabe, dieser Fehlkommunikation vorzubeugen. Dieser Kurs gibt Ihnen die Möglichkeit, Ihre fundierten Englischkenntnisse durch Grundkompetenzen in allgemeiner Übersetzungslehre zu ergänzen. Sie erhalten das nötige Handwerkszeug, das Sie zur Erstellung fachlich korrekter Übersetzungen von Englisch auf Deutsch ? und umgekehrt ? benötigen. Zudem erfahren Sie mehr über semantische Aspekte, syntaktische Probleme und weitere Herausforderungen, die Ihnen bei Ihrer Tätigkeit begegnen werden. Am Ende des Lehrgangs sind Sie in der Lage, englische Texte ins Deutsche zu übertragen und aus dem Deutschen heraus englische Texte zu erstellen. Das Zertifikat erlangen Sie nach erfolgreichem Absolvieren von einer Klausur. Die Weiterbildungsinhalte werden an der AKAD University mit den erreichten Credits bewertet und bei möglichen Anrechnungsverfahren in dieser Höhe angerechnet.
