Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a concept that revolutionised the way construction projects are conceived by developing intelligent virtual models. When applying BIM, the resulting 3D model is a data-rich digital representation of the facility. It provides professionals with the necessary information to perform practical building analysis. This course aims to discuss several possibilities for adopting the BIM methodology for enhancing the decision-making process in building projects. For this, different tools and methods associated with BIM will be presented and applied to case studies.

Successful completion of the Associate in Arts in Construction Technology prepares students for entry into the construction trades, which require a technical skill and understanding of construction processes. Students planning on transferring to a four-year school should complete the AA Degree, which includes the 39-unit general education sequence of courses. Specific four-year institutions may require additional courses in the major to fulfill lower division requirements. This degree may not transfer to all universities, and students need to inquire of the universities if they have a bachelors degree for their upper division course work. A grade of "C" or better is required in all major, certificate and major elective courses.

You’ll learn safety, contracts, structural principles and materials, estimating, and many more skills that will transform you into a confident builder, site manager, foreperson or construction manager.

Foundation Learning students have access to an exciting range of specialist resources at the College. With specialist construction workshops for every area you will develop your communication and practical skills. Guided by our expert staff you’ll use our construction workshops to develop your carpentry, bricklaying and plumbing skills with tailored modules. You will be learning in a small group (maximum 12). You will develop your communication and practical skills by taking on three construction trades across the year: building, tiling and wood work. You will also complete a Health and Safety unit.

They're involved at every step of a building's construction: they build frames for foundations, install floor beams, lay sub-flooring and erect walls, stairs, and roofs. This qualification provides a trade outcome in wall and floor tiling for residential and commercial construction work. The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as the specialist field of work, wall and floor tiling. Tilers work with materials like ceramic, glass, slate, marble and clay. They cut these materials and lay tiles on walls and floors, both interior and exterior. They may also add decorative touches to their basic work.

The program is designed to help students acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to prepare for successful entry-level employment in the masonry field.
