Helsinki is the capital city of Finland. It is located in the Region of Uusimaa and has a population of over 600,000 inhabitants. It is home to several universities and other institutions of higher education.

License commercial pilots wishing to fly aircraft weighing over 5700 kg may wish to pursue an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL). To qualify for an ATPL license, pilots must hold a CPL license, have logged at least 1500 flight hours, and be able to pass the theory exams.

The formal higher education system of Finland is the 7-3-2-2 pattern. The university takes two years in vocational or technical education and finally two-year pre-tertiary education. A certificate is proof of qualification of a certain set of skills. Students who obtain a certificate have completed educational requirements and tests. Through completion, they become ready to pursue a degree or diploma, or to head into the professional world in their field of expertise.

Part time learning allows one to obtain part-time degrees even if one cannot attend school on a full-time basis. One can learn at his or own pace, gradually accumulating credits which count towards final qualification.
