12 Aging Certificate Programs

This program is offered primarily online, however, during the first semester, students will attend a hands-on skills demonstration and simulation weekend on campus. During those three eight-hour sessions, students will navigate different acute care stations and scenarios with access to critical care materials to practice and demonstrate competencies in caring for acute care patients.

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) is designed to provide training to entry-level workers who want to work in residential aged care facilities, community care, disability care, community-based organisations and hospitals.

These qualification addresses work primarily in residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organization guidelines and service plans.

The Personal Support Worker Program prepares graduates to provide supportive care to individuals across their lifespan by assisting them with their activities of daily living. Students learn to be valuable members of care service teams and develop effective working relationships towards quality client care. With a focus on personal care and home management services, they will gain the knowledge and skills required to collaborate with clients, families, supervisors, and colleagues within their respective healthcare institutions.

This program is ideal for developing a career in the aged and community care industry. It reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to an ageing, disability or some other reason.
