The Master's degree program in Civil Engineering in Building Construction enables a complete university education in the field of civil engineering with a focus on building construction. In addition to extensive, in-depth training in building construction, students are offered elective subjects (two elective subject groups).

Civil engineers are experts in buildings - from planning to construction, from renovation to demolition. They plan, construct, monitor, they take on managerial and coordinating roles within construction teams and they learn to evaluate their designs and constructions mathematically using the latest technologies - both in the areas of safety and functionality as well as in terms of costs. With the help of building physics knowledge and knowledge in the field of building technology and building automation, civil engineers optimize new and existing building structures.

Master in Integrated Design in Building Construction, is a postgraduate course with a duration of 2 Years/4 semesters (120 ECTS), essentially directed at students already graduated - and, even, professional activity - in the areas of Civil Engineering and Architecture, which aims to recreate, within the framework of a specialized academic training, the most efficient model of multidisciplinary development of building projects, referred as IPD Integrated Project Delivery.

BCE is a three-year Bachelor's program, entirely delivered in English, focused on the Building itself, which aims to train engineers with wide-ranging international professional experience. As a building engineer, you will be aware of the complexity of the building system (at both subsystem and environmental level) and you will be able to develop projects in the construction sector.

This program provides students with the technical knowledge and skill of reading and interpreting building codes. Understanding materials used to meet the demands of the codes and the documentation needed to comply with inspections taking place during construction, remodeling, or maintenance of structures. With these new skills, students will obtain entry-level employment as an inspector or an inspector’s helper in new construction, remodeling construction, or operation of an existing building.

This master's degree places special emphasis on acquiring a global vision of BIM processes from the beginning, preparing the student to face any present and future challenge. This master's degree aims to present and explore step by step the potential of the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology, aimed at the projection and construction of buildings, from the initial design stages to the creation of construction models.

The Civil Engineering - Building Structures program is prepared as a 1.5 year master's program. It is focused on designing and implementing demanding structures of civil, industrial, engineering and transport structures. Theoretical disciplines in the field of strength and elasticity, finite element method and building dynamics are deepened.

This specializing master combines the teaching units of the specializing master "Project management in construction works" with the teaching units of the specializing master "BIM Manager". BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an increasingly important tool for the correct management of the design phase, construction sites, extraordinary maintenance works, etc., regardless of the size and complexity of the intervention in question. Knowing the digitization trends of the building sector and using them wisely, aiming at better performance and higher work quality, is becoming increasingly important for project managers in the civil and infrastructure sectors. For this reason, this specializing master will offer a greater number of teaching hours (if compared to each of the two specializing masters dedicated respectively to PM and BIM) distributed both in the first semester (November-March) and in the second semester (April-October), replacing the period of internship which is not required. Each student is going to write her / his master thesis that will be delivered to the Master School and defended in order to achieve the diploma by the Politecnico di Milano.

The Faculty of Installation Engineering (FII) was established in 1949. The Faculty trains engineers specializing in the design, construction and operation of all systems in a building: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water and wastewater supply, lighting, aspects of building security (fire safety, burglary protection, etc.), energy production and distribution systems (thermal and cooling installations, renewable energies, heat distribution, electricity distribution), building automation and management systems. This field covers both the existing built environment, its rehabilitation and the design and construction of the built environment of the future.

After the first cycle of studies (license), the master's degree in “Energy efficiency of technical building installations”, EEITB adds to the skills of engineers, in-depth knowledge in the main areas of research developed in our Faculty: building energy, comfort in indoor environments, the behavior of technical building systems (ventilation, heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical installations, lighting, sanitary installations, automatic management, acoustics, air pollution and filtration systems, renewable energy sources).

The Master in Energy Saving and Sustainability in Buildings is eminently practical and aimed at training experts in building energy and energy evaluation and sustainability in buildings. Trains students to obtain accreditation as an energy auditor, energy and environmental evaluator in LEED, BREEAM and GREEN certifications.
