In the last few decades, family life has become progressively more complex and diverse, and demographic trends at national, state and regional levels reflect a shift in family structures, functions, and cultural backgrounds; an increased level of child and family poverty; and a larger aging population. To meet these shifting trends, family practitioners with backgrounds in human development and family science have become essential. These individuals consistently strive to understand and work efficiently with contemporary families who have increasingly diverse needs.

Global workforce demands in the health and human services are increasing, and a BAS degree with a concentration in health, wellness, and social services will provide you with the foundation necessary to be a professional in the field. In fact, Mason’s College of Health and Human Services was developed in 2006 to help meet this demand and offer students high-quality programs in public health, rehabilitation science, nutrition, health informatics, senior housing, health services research, and policy and specialized study in social work and nursing.

You will be taught by a dynamic team of academics from diverse professional backgrounds including nursing, social work, psychology, epidemiology, health promotion, sociology and social sciences.
