The purpose of the BSc in Professional Pilot is to train professionals who are familiar with aviation and are able to work as professional pilots, and able to support the air operation, ground handling, and transport operations at aircraft operators and organizations, and carry out compliance monitoring and safety management activities also. After gaining the necessary professional experience they are able to fulfill the requirements as nominated post-holders also.

MTSU has a rich history of teaching students to fly, dating back to WWII when flight training took place right on campus. Today, graduates from the Professional Pilot program fly for every major US airline, at dozens of regional airlines, and for corporations and government agencies. To prepare for these opportunities, Pro Pilot students must complete flight operations coursework and achieve pilot certification up to and including the Commercial Multi-engine Certificate with an Instrument Rating.

Hampton University offers the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Flight Education degree program. Upon completion of the program, Flight Education students will have earned their private, instrument, commercial, and certified flight instructor certificates as they enter the job market prepared to seek employment as a pilot in the aviation industry. Students with these degrees can go to work in commercial aviation for companies like United Airlines or JetBlue.

Graduates of this degree program are eligible to apply for a Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (R-ATP) certificate at 1,000 flight hours, pursuant to the provisions of 14 CFR Part 61.160.

As with our aerospace technology with a management degree, this broad-based aviation course has an emphasis on computer-aided engineering – including 3D modeling, computer-aided analysis, simulation, and computer-aided manufacture. You’ll develop your practical skills in workshops and well-equipped laboratories, while your piloting skills are developed in the second half of the course through the University’s flight simulators and tuition at a nationally recognised flight centre in the UK or US, at an additional cost.
