Biology Program offers courses on the biological, chemical, physical and mathematical principles governing the behaviour of living matter at the molecular, cellular, organism and population levels. Fundamental subjects as molecular and cellular biology, genetics, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, plant biology and ecology are supplemented by a wide variety of elective courses to prepare the students for careers in research and teaching in university, and for various positions in food and drug industry, agriculture, forestry, and public health. The Biology program allows students to choose an option among molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, and environmental biology fields in their junior year.

The purpose of the program is to train students to take part in studies involving extensive observation and experimentation techniques. Collection of data on social, economic, public and other systems as well as in laboratory experiments enables them to analyse and make inferences about the behavior of such systems.

One of the main objectives in the undergraduate program is to offer a well balanced education in mathematics. With the purpose of maximizing flexibility and the number of options for a well rounded development of the student the undergraduate curriculum contains a large number of electives.

The objectives of the department are: To develop students` basic knowledge of physics in order that they can understand the rules governing the universe. To enhance students` ability and motivation to solve unsolved problems in various fields. To give broader background in math and science in order to provide a basis for branching out into variety of areas ranging from the nano-scale high-tech area to space physics. To prepare students to become a research scientist to make a carrier of physics and also work as a professor in a university, or to work as an applier of physics in almost all fields where science and technology have an important impact

Chemical Engineering education emphasizes the development of a deep understanding of the fundamental principles of chemistry, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, and reaction engineering. Students learn to apply these principles to analyze and solve complex engineering problems in areas such as chemical process design, kinetics, and process control.

The objective of Mathematics Education is to cultivate in students a deep appreciation for the beauty and relevance of mathematics, develop their mathematical literacy, and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

The main purpose of the program is to educate mathematics teachers with a good self- image, an outgoing personality, a sense of humour and an interest in helping their students to understand mathematics in a meaningful way. In addition, the program also aims to develop teachers with a sound understanding of how children learnmathematics; confident in using technology; capable in problem-solving; attentive to human rights, democracy, and ethics. The program emphasises critical thinking, personal reflection, and professional development of preservice math teachers.

General Information on Undergraduate Program Molecular Biology and Genetics Program offers courses on the biological, chemical, physical, and mathematical principles governing the behavior of organisms at the molecular, cellular, organism, and population levels. Fundamental subjects are molecular and cellular biology, molecular genetics, recombinant DNA technology, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, plant biology, molecular ecology and evolution. The fundamental courses are supplemented with a wide variety of elective courses to prepare the students for highly demanded contemporary biotech and infotech careers in the research and development activities of the 21st Century.

Materials Science and Nanoengineering is an interdisciplinary field that is closely related to diverse disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology, or chemical and mechanical engineering and mechanics. Materials Science and Nanoengineering (MAT) aims at furnishing its students with the theoretical and practical skills necessary for the understanding, design, and application of advanced technology materials.
