Not only is the following study programme based on common linguistic studies in English, but also on practically applied English Philology studies, and aims to prepare competent specialists in linguistics, who shall be able to apply linguistic knowledge and communicative competences in a creative manner when interacting in two foreign languages. The programme may be viewed as highly relevant: due to Lithuania‘s geo-political position and peculiarities of the labour market, it is necessary to have specialists fluent in two foreign languages, as well as possess fundamental linguistic knowledge and high-level communication skills.

This Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies offers an endorsement in early childhood education (PreK-3) and a secondary endorsement in English as a second language (ESL). The degree prepares students to be competent and compassionate teachers of young students and those with language barriers, providing them with the strong foundation and early intervention they need to excel in learning.

The Department of English, Journalism, and Media Communications supports the core curriculum with student-centred instruction in languages, literature, composition, speech, digital media, and journalism.

Through the study of language, culture, and literature, students examine the human experience as an individual and in relation to their local and global community as they prepare for a career. The department encourages travel and study abroad, and faculty are either native speakers of the language they teach or have extensive experience abroad. Our small classes make it easy for students to connect with professors and receive personalized instruction.

The Bachelor of Arts degree program in French is designed to offer a balanced approach to the development of language skills and the acquisition of a broad and solid knowledge of the literature, culture, and civilization of France and the Francophone world.
