Our BSc Conservation of Objects in Museums and Archaeology will equip you with the skill set required to be a practising conservator. Our degree in Archaeology integrates traditional archaeology with the practical application of scientific methods that are applied to today’s archaeology. It is a professionally-focused degree in archaeology with a strong fieldwork component and a focus on human osteology or the environment.

This degree explores how archaeological techniques and the analysis of human remains are used in a forensic (medico-legal) context. You will gain a full grounding in archaeological excavation, surveying and recording of crime scenes. In addition, you will also learn about human anatomy and anthropological analysis of human remains, including age, sex, ancestry assessment and the analysis and interpretation of trauma.

The BSc (Hons) provides training for those wishing to take up a career in counselling. The course runs over three academic years. The course will provide you with a strong knowledge base and the expertise to practise as a humanistic counsellor. It is designed to equip students with a set of relational competencies which have application across the ever- broadening range of settings with which counselling is being practised. The course includes counselling theory, skills training, personal development, and practical experience of working with clients. Upon graduation you will receive a BSc (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling awarded by Middlesex University.

The BSc Politics with Business will allow you to develop a strong quantitative analytic toolkit, and to bring this perspective to study a wide variety of political phenomena, including source of power, democratic representation and distributional justice, the political underpinnings of economic development in countries of the Global South, to international phenomena such as migration, trade, conflict. You will also acquire the skills to manage organizations and gain an understanding in how business works in an increasingly complex world.

The pleasure of seeing what is under the surface of a literary text is something you will have experienced at GCSE. You have been exposed to Shakespeare at GCSE and it is now time to build on this firm basis by adding to your repertoire of his plays, while also tracking English literature to its sources by making the acquaintance of the first poet to choose to write poetry in English: Geoffrey Chaucer. The first year of English studies also takes account of an exciting mid-to-late twentieth century writer: Angela Carter and her adventurous and definitively adult re-telling of fairy tales in her collection of Gothic short (but interlocking) stories The Bloody Chamber which draw on psychoanalytical interpretations of what these stories really mean!

We also offer British Sign Language courses, Community Interpreting courses and University English Language courses for foreign students wishing to enter university in the UK, as well as Study Skills courses. Our English Language and Study Skills courses are for students whose first language is not English or who need support in English with reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

The BA Creative Writing is an exciting programme of study that gives you the opportunity to explore a range of disciplines, from fiction to poetry, scriptwriting to creative non-fiction. You will be taught by some of the UK’s leading writers, including playwright David Eldridge (Beginning), screenwriter Daragh Carville (The Bay) and writer and critic Katherine Angel (Tomorrow Sex Will Be Good Again). Under the guidance of these and other practising, award-winning writers.

When doing your GCSEs in English language and perhaps English Literature you will have commented on how language can be used to achieve effects and you will have created a variety of texts, like letters and descriptions. You will have had the chance to write creatively. All of this experience is a sound basis for undertaking this A level which takes the analysis of language much further. We develop a methodology for the analysis of language and apply it to language as it occurs in a wide range of contexts, from children’s spoken and written language to the language of advertisements and the mass media. We also look at how language has changed from 1550 to the present day.
