The programme aims to nurture professionals in gerontology. The content is multi-disciplinary, covering the required knowledge and skills in a wider diversity of contexts in multi-disciplines, such as community support, primary care, and other relevant sectors related to the ageing population.

Biomedical engineering is recognized around the world as one of the fastest-growing areas of innovation. It covers a wide spectrum of applications such as devices that are used by health professionals in their diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative practices; implants that are placed in patients for their health maintenance; prostheses, orthoses and assistive devices that are used by people with special needs to facilitate their daily activities; and healthcare products and exercise equipment for general health promotion. Our BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Engineering programme prepares students for such a challenging career. They have opportunities to take subjects in both life sciences and engineering, and to integrate these concepts in interdisciplinary applications to improve human health.

Programmes offered under this Scheme share some common subjects. There should be no fewer than 27 common credits in the first three semesters (excluding summer terms). Students are expected to have chosen a specific Major from the Scheme’s programmes by the end of semester 1 of Year 2. After successfully completing the four-year programme, students are awarded a degree in their selected major programme.

This programme aims to equip graduates with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in food science and safety (such as food chemistry, nutritional science, microbiology, food engineering, food safety management) that can work in the food-related industry and promote food safety in society. These could help them to perform effectively in the food, nutrition and catering industries and solve problems related to food science and safety. It will also provide students with generic management skills to function effectively as supervisors and managers as they progress in their careers.
