Bachelor of Science (B.S.) - Agricultural Education (Secondary Education) - The curriculum in secondary education is for students seeking careers teaching agriscience in middle and high schools. Graduates are eligible to apply for the agricultural education teaching license in North Carolina. Students majoring in this concentration will also have to be admitted to the College of Education’s Teacher Education Program at N.C. A&T, and must earn a minimum grade point average of 2.8, in addition to other program requirements. Please ask your advisor for more details and information about these requirements.

The Environmental Studies major combines courses (curriculum) from several disciplines, which enables you to develop your creativity, analytical skills and imagination by discovering alternative ways of applying science and your communication and leadership skills to environmental problem solving. This major incorporates breadth and depth, and provides flexibility to focus in an area of interest to you. It is popular among students interested in careers as environmental scientists.

Aquatic and fisheries science is the study of aquatic ecosystems to increase scientific understanding and to apply this knowledge to their management and conservation, thereby sustaining them for multiple uses.

Students in the Forest Ecosystem Science program are drawn to natural and managed forest environments with a blend of curiosity and a sense of responsibility. They seek both to understand forest ecosystems and apply their knowledge to sustain forests and their benefits for future generations.

The forest health major prepares biology-oriented students that deal with maintaining the health of forest resources. The major is distinct from those in the Department of Forest and Natural Resources Management and its forest ecosystem science, which provides skills in forest management.

If you are interested in nutritious foods and a healthy environment, the Sustainable Land and Food Systems concentration is for you (curriculum). Here at NC A&T, we are educating the next generation of land and food system leaders. We do this by using 21st-century approaches including technology-driven classroom instruction, experiential learning on our urban food platform and student farm, and service learning opportunities on-campus and around our community.

This program provides students with the opportunity to develop and integrate knowledge and skills in forest ecology and biology, forest measurements, forest policy, and administration, forest operations, and forest management to provide society with a steady, renewable supply of wood and ecosystem services.

Our Agricultural Sciences program offers a flexible, interdisciplinary major that prepares students to tackle important challenges, from improving their family farms to pursuing careers in policy, education, research or agricultural business.
