The Department of Social Work welcomes students who are interested in understanding and working with people and communities based on people’s strengths according to the principles of human rights and social justice. Our curriculum prepares students to be professional social workers that are able to work in multiple settings with diverse populations and issues. We adopt different methods of teaching and assessment to ensure the effectiveness of students’ learning. Since the demand for trained social workers increases every year, we also encourage our students to pass the certification exam and become licensed social workers.

Corresponding to the trend of campus internationalization and globalization, International Affairs and Diplomacy (IAD) is the first English–taught undergraduate program focused on the fields of international affairs and diplomacy. The program is based on the principle of balance between theory and practice and aimed to meet the demands of the global market and current trends.

The undergraduate program encompasses basic and advanced Language Training, Literary Studies, Linguistics, and Language Teaching. Students develop communication capabilities and professional aptitudes that will benefit their career goals. The department also offers certification programs that widen students’ familiarity with interdisciplinary skills across various departments within the College of Humanities and Management.

Fo Guang University is a university founded by Master Fo Guang Shan Xingyun. It is also the first university in Lanyang. The campus is located on the hill of Linmei Village, Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County. It is about 430 meters above sea level, from which you can have a broad bird's eye view.
