The aim of the study program Foreign Languages and Cultures is to train well-qualified bachelors in the Humanities with a broad range of knowledge and competencies, who have a knowledge of Italian, French, or German (C1 level) and an additional foreign language (B2 level). Graduates will grasp the fundamentals of linguistics, literary studies, translation, intercultural communication, and production of spoken and written texts, and become familiar with the culture of a chosen country, its history, and political and economic situation. Students will be able to translate from the source into the target language and vice versa, interpret and analyze different countries’ cultural phenomena in the European and global context. Graduates will be able to apply their linguistic, communicative, cultural, social, and other competencies in professional and academic areas.

The Department of Africana Studies in the College of Arts and Humanities offers a major and a minor in Africana Studies. Africana Studies is primarily a discipline which investigates the social, cultural, political and aesthetic dimensions of Africana peoples' experiences. These experiences range from earliest human civilizations through the tragic era of enslavement, colonization and involuntary dispersal through forced migration and displacement of African peoples. The intellectual framework that sets Africana Studies apart from other disciplines is that it explores the subject area from the perspective of Africana peoples' interests, aspirations, possibilities, and envisioned destinies. The foundation of the discipline rests on an understanding and appreciation of African peoples' worldview and philosophy of life as the starting point for all Africana intellectual inquiry. The BA degree and minor program offered by the department emphasizes an examination of the theoretical and empirical characteristics of the African world experience from both a contemporary and historical perspective.

The undergraduate program in English Studies focuses on practical skills and combines several modules, such as linguistics, intensive language learning, as well as cultural and historical background of the English speaking countries. Thanks to this approach, students gain multifaceted skills, including language competencies, academic reading and writing, multicultural awareness, and teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL).

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Studies and Digital Communication and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (English Language) This program aims to prepare students to become competent teachers of English for primary/secondary schools, or other English language-related professionals. Graduates will obtain a high level of English proficiency and an ability to help pupils learn English effectively.

The Bachelor in Lithuanian Studies programme allows you to learn the Lithuanian language, and to get acquainted with the linguistic situation, literature, culture, history, and social and political life of Lithuania. It is flexible and open to the student’s interests study programme: you will be able to choose 25% of the subjects according to your interests in various fields. You can study language, literature and socio-cultural phenomena, choose subjects from other disciplines (politics, history, management, pedagogy, etc.), or study one of more than 20 languages.

Students seeking teacher certification in English Language Arts and Reading (grades 4-8) or English Language Arts and Reading grades (7-12) will participate in a program that incorporates state and national standards for the field.
