The General Studies: Humanities major offers an opportunity to customize a bachelor’s degree program to help students meet their academic goals and prepare for a variety of professions or for graduate school. Students work closely with an advisor to develop an approved bachelor’s degree program that includes depth and breadth in at least four disciplines in the Humanities: Art, Communication Arts, English, History, Humanities, Music, Nez Perce Language, Philosophy, Spanish, and Theatre. This degree can be completed online, face-to-face, or a combination of the two.

Liberal Arts in Humanities is a 3-year study programme that provides wide knowledge in the humanities and develops intellectual abilities and critical thinking. The student is not limited to only one field, but has a choice of various humanities disciplines, such as anthropology, Asian studies, English studies, Eastern-European studies, literary and cultural studies, environmental humanities and cultural analysis. They are free to combine these disciplines into a tailor-made interdisciplinary curriculum according to their personal goals and interests.

The Bachelor's degree program in Liberal Arts and Humanities offers studies of the humanities and focuses on philosophy, history, and cultural and social anthropology. The program's significant feature is a widely open study schedule that allows students to pursue their individual abilities and develop their interests. The student takes mandatory courses in humanities and social sciences and passes comprehensive exams relevant to each field. By choosing other elective courses during the studies, the student can gradually specialize and focus either on further (Master's) study in any of the relative theoretical fields or on the practical use of acquired skills. In EOU's online bachelor's in interdisciplinary studies program, students practice skills transferable to virtually any career by integrating two chosen fields of study with learning experiences in and outside of the classroom. Students can complete two EOU minors, use an existing minor, or create an individualized plan.

The aim of the study program Foreign Languages and Cultures is to train well-qualified bachelors in the Humanities with a broad range of knowledge and competencies, who have a knowledge of Italian, French, or German (C1 level) and an additional foreign language (B2 level).
