Binghamton University’s Environmental Studies Program seeks to prepare each student for life as a citizen and as a leader, who is equipped to understand and address the complex environmental challenges facing our communities, nations, and planet. Graduates of our program (with either a BA in Environmental Studies or a BS in Environmental Science) will be able to tackle environmental and societal concerns in four critical areas.

If you are interested in working with the natural world, environmental conservation or natural resource management, the Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Conservation degree might be for you. The Environmental Conservation, BAS program takes advantage of the exceptional learning opportunities in Skagit Valley’s unique ecology of temperate forests, shorelines, and mixed-use wilderness areas and a fully accredited water lab to provide students with a unique way to develop key natural resource management skills.

The Biology Program at CSU Dominguez Hills is designed to provide students with intensive, progressive and balanced learning experiences in cell and molecular biology, organismal biology, population and community biology, and environmental science.

Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) is a broad-based, liberal arts and sciences major that focuses on developing exemplary skills in written and oral communication, textual analysis, critical thinking, research methods, and the ability to bring a wide range of resources to bear in approaching complex problems. Because it combines knowledge systems across the meta-disciplines of the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences, an IDS major is great preparation for both the workplace and for entry into graduate or professional schools. IDS is part of a national network of Programs for Accelerated College Education (PACE) that are designed for working, adult students who want to earn a bachelor’s degree in a reasonable period of time while they maintain a full-time job. While all admitted students are welcome, IDS/PACE students are primarily transfers who enter CSUDH with 60 units and junior-class standing.

Conservation Biology is an interdisciplinary track in which you will learn about the negative effects of biodiversity loss and species extinctions and discover strategies to mitigate them. Our program not only ensures that students thoroughly understand and use biological principles and methods, but also provides an education in conservation policy, including theories from the fields of ecology, demography, taxonomy, and genetics. Your studies are combined with a core curriculum that encourages creativity and critical thinking to ensure you’ll be ready to pursue a career upon graduation or continue on to a graduate school or professional program.

The Earth is called the "blue planet" because of the abundance of water covering its surface. However, less than one percent of that is available freshwater, a precious resource we need to survive. Freshwater scientists study the health of freshwater systems—lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, wetlands—gathering critical information such as the impact of invasive species, changing levels of biological diversity, and the effects of climate change and pollution. Their work is at the forefront of finding innovative solutions to the complex challenges facing our freshwater resources. In our unique partnership program, you’ll earn your bachelor’s degree at Carroll and go on to complete your master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in as little as five years. Choose from Carroll's Environmental Science LINK program, which integrates the Earth Sciences, Chemistry, and Ecology with opportunities to customize the curriculum to your interests; or the Biology LINK program, where you’ll focus on living systems, animals, plants, microbes, and human life.

Mercer University's environmental studies minor is an interdisciplinary program housed in the Department of Sociology. The curriculum provides you with a diverse course selection, joining the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities to deepen your understanding of environmental problems. Our program offers a number of opportunities to apply your knowledge outside of the classroom.
