822 Design Bachelor's Degree Programs

From fabric burnout to photographic screen printing to computer–assisted print designs, students in the BFA Textile Design program design and print on both fabric and paper using various print techniques and fabric manipulation. Students develop their drawing and color skills in course work that combines excellence in design, artistic vision, and innovative technology to provide students with the skills necessary to realize their creative visions fully. Students are encouraged to participate in industry competitions and internships. Senior students may collaborate with other fashion design or knitwear majors to produce a runway collection for the annual San Francisco Fashion Show.

The Double Bachelor's Degree (three-year degree) in Fashion Design, jointly designed by the Second University of Naples (SUN) and the Okan University Art, fashion and Fashion Design Department, is based on the sharing of a semester and allows students enrolled at two universities to attend third year courses at the SUN and fourth year at Okan University, Department of Fashion Design and to obtain a double degree in "Design for Fashion" and "Fashion Design".

Bachelors in Fashion Design and/or Tailoring and Fashion Techniques The Bachelors in Fashion Design and/or Tailoring and Fashion Techniques is a 3-year program that prepares students to work in the Fashion Industry. The program allows students to master the conceptual tools and techniques necessary to deployment of his/her creativity and the translation into a visual and technical language specific to fashion. The future Fashion Designer or Tailor will be able to create a garment or accessory from conception, through to sketches and the creation of prototypes, whether it be a unique piece or a part of a collection or industrial assembly design.

Environmental design focuses on creating spaces for people, encompassing architecture, urban planning, retail environments, landscape, and interior design. In this program, you’ll develop skills in research, analysis, design, and presentation. Graduates often continue their studies at the master’s level.

In the Graphic Design program, you will learn the process of visual communication through the combo of images, photography, and text to represent ideas and messages. Some graphic design programs at other schools have a sole focus on technical skills and commercial, corporate work. OCAD U’s Graphic Design program teaches you the skills you need but also encourages you to use graphic design as an art form, to challenge barriers and create work for social good. You’ll learn how graphic design impacts society and generates dialogue. You will benefit from hands-on training, as well as theory courses that explore design as a form of expression. At the end of this four-year program, you will earn a Bachelor of Design degree.

In the Industrial Design program, you will learn how to develop new products that are used in our daily lives. These may include everything from everyday products to mobile apps. You’ll be encouraged to design sustainable products that will last many generations, keeping in mind diverse cultures. You’ll learn about research, concept development, and making prototypes, You will also study how people behave to better understand what their needs are. An important benefit of studying Industrial Design at OCAD U is that while you’re studying theory, you’ll also be able to take practical, creative hands-on courses, such as design and drawing. The Industrial Design program is recognized by the Association of Canadian Industrial Designers. At the end of this four-year program, you will earn a Bachelor of Design degree.

This undergraduate studies program in one year welcomes international students who have completed two years of design studies and wish to obtain a French Diploma, recognized by the French Ministry of Higher Education. This diploma is called DN MADE: National Diploma in Fine Art and Design.
