3 Building Technology Bachelor's Degree Programs

The Bachelor of Engineering - Building Systems Engineering (BSE) program delivered at the honors level, is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) allowing graduates to become professional engineers after completing their mandatory work experience and writing a professional practice exam. This paid co-op program explores the present and future of modern, energy-efficient and sustainable buildings with increasingly complex operational systems. The BSE program targets motivated individuals looking for challenging careers in design and integration of building systems, energy, and utilities as well as building operations and facilities management. Delivered using a project-based learning environment, the BSE program allows students to solve real-world problems by integrating mechanical, electrical and control engineering knowledge with environmental, business, project management concepts and team dynamics skills. The three co-op work terms and the increasingly complex projects, strategically integrated with academic semesters, enhance students’ skills and job readiness.

This major aims at developing senior engineering and technical talents who are qualified for the planning, design, construction, installation, equipment debugging, equipment research and development, operation management, scientific research and teaching of HAVC, gas supply, building energy-saving technology, building water supply and drainage, heat supply and new energy utilization in the field of industrial and civil building environment control technology.

AUT’s Bachelor of Construction aims to equip students with robust and industry relevant skills for careers as either construction managers or as quantity surveyors in the local and global construction industry. Both roles are vital for the construction industry. The degree emphasises the capabilities required by the construction sector, and graduates will be well prepared for future roles in the construction industry. The RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) accreditation for the Bachelor of Construction is scheduled for the end of 2024. Graduates of this programme will be eligible for RICS accreditation if they successfully complete a Bachelor of Construction major and the Professional Practice minor. As part of your degree, you also have the option to pursue courses from a second minor or elective courses.
