The Bachelor of Science degree is designed to prepare the student for teaching, industrial work, and graduate education.

The Science Education program is intended for students planning to be certified to teach Science in the Texas public school system as well as private schools.

Our new Bachelor of Science in Music, Worship Leadership Concentration degree is housed in the School of Music and offers a fully-functioning degree in music/worship leadership with a new core of worship-specific courses included.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders’ goal is to provide an academically challenging pre-professional education in the fields of speech-language-hearing pathology and audiology in an environment that encourages intellectual and spiritual growth and preparation for graduate school.

Students who graduate with this certification preparation will have the knowledge and skill to set up and solve problems, will be able to use computers in support of mathematics problem-solving, be able to communicate clearly mathematical ideas and results, and have an appreciation of the place of mathematics in the culture.

Students seeking teacher certification in English Language Arts and Reading (grades 4-8) or English Language Arts and Reading grades (7-12) will participate in a program that incorporates state and national standards for the field. The degrees in the area focus on critical thinking, writing, and the ability to communicate using the written and spoken word.

Our Human Services Administration Program (HSAD) promotes excellence in education enlightened by Christian faith and values along with preparing graduates to excel in the 21st century in an administrative capacity in non-profit agencies, schools, health care centers, and other community-based organizations while assisting those who are vulnerable and underrepresented.

The HSU Exercise Science Program, guided by Christian faith and values, prepares students for a variety of career opportunities in health and human movement. Foundational to the Program is the multidisciplinary study of human movement involving components of biological, physical, psychological, and health sciences to explain structural and functional changes that occur on the physiological, biochemical and biomechanical levels.

Students who graduate with a degree in information systems have a valuable skill set that combines computer programming, applied computer science, and business. Students graduating with this degree find themselves fitting just as comfortably in a board room as they do in the back office. This degree has another advantage in that it flows seamlessly into HSU’s MBA program.

Marketing is power. It creates and communicates a firm’s value offering that generates consumer motivation. Fundamental to success in marketing is having a sound understanding of consumer behavior and customer decision-making; understanding how to collect and use information about the marketplace, and an ability to integrate the components of the marketing mix to solve marketing problems.

The Hardin-Simmons Department of Mathematics offers programs of study leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Behavioral Science, and Bachelor of Science degrees. Our students are encouraged to learn by doing mathematics.
