The Japanese studies program fosters detailed, nuanced knowledge and understanding of various aspects of pre-modern, modern, and contemporary Japanese culture and society, including history, language, literature, visual culture, politics, and economics.

Graduates of our program (with either a BA in Environmental Studies or a BS in Environmental Science) will be able to tackle environmental and societal concerns in four critical areas.

A BSW degree through Binghamton University will prepare students for generalist practice and will focus on understanding social work values, ethics, and professional behavior. The Latin American and Caribbean Area Studies Program (LACAS) offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Latin America, the Caribbean, and people of Latin American and Caribbean descent in the United States. LACAS majors examine culture and economic and social problems throughout the Americas. By choosing this central, students not only learn more about a range of cultures and societies but also about global interconnectedness.

The Economics Department offers a BA, three BS degrees, and a minor. The BA provides undergraduates with comprehensive exposure to the principles and tools of economics. BS degrees provide coursework in economic analysis, financial economics, and economic policy analysis for undergraduates planning advanced study or careers in economics, financial analysis, or government.

The biochemistry program at Binghamton University is a joint effort of the biological sciences and chemistry departments. Since biochemistry is primarily a laboratory science, the curriculum emphasizes modern laboratory techniques and encourages students to participate in independent biochemical laboratory research.
