Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Theology Perhaps you ve never thought of yourself as a theologian, but you've probably had questions about who or what God is and the role of the Christian faith in the 21st century. Biblical Studies & Theology seeks to answer these questions at their most fundamental level.

The foundation of the Bachelor of Theology (BTh) program is built on Biblical Studies, Christian History and Theology. You will also balance out your education by taking electives in Arts and Sciences from the other faculties of Acadia University and be introduced to current and proven ministry practices. Learning is flexible and many courses can be taken either on campus, online or in intensive units that make studying possible for students who are unable to attend locally or full time.

Grow in understanding of the Christian faith In the words of Saint Paul, the aim of The School of Theology is “[…] to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.” (Ephesians 4.12-13) Find a welcoming space to pursue and deepen one’s spiritual awareness, receive assistance with the interpretation of the Scriptures, have plenty of room to grow in moral sensibility and character, and gain a genuine appreciation of the Anglican tradition.

The Bachelor of Theology (Intercultural Ministry) Program provides spiritual growth, Biblical knowledge, and ministry development with a special focus on intercultural ministry. It is designed to call forth and prepare long-term ministry-focused leaders. Our goal is to see graduates deployed nationally and internationally to develop holistic church planting movements that make disciples of nations, baptizing and teaching believers to obey all that Christ has commanded.

The Youth Ministry program prepares men and women to understand and relate to youth culture, love teens, lead them to Jesus, and equip them for ministry. Students in the Youth Ministry major are trained to lead church-based youth groups, campus clubs, city-wide events, small groups, camps, retreats, local outreach projects, and overseas missions trips. A crucial element of training is a carefully integrated program of weekly ministry in the church, campus, or community, and a 400-hour internship. Our goal is to produce competent, confident, capable, and compassionate youth pastors and youth workers for the church and other agencies in Canada and around the world.

Learn to think deeply about the origin and purpose of life, and ask BIG questions Explore​​ the​ wide range​ variety​ of​ religious responses to ​ human beliefs and behaviours surrounding these ​age-old question​s​: What is the meaning of life?​ What is the good life? What is love? What is evil?​ ​Does God exist? Examine the wisdom drawn from diverse religious traditions to these questions, and consider the variety of ways religion shapes culture and society, and vice versa. ​Compare and understand how religion affected the lives of ancient peoples, and consider how it affects humankind today. Thorneloe courses count as Humanities credits and may be used towards a major in Religious Studies at Laurentian with a 3 or 4-year BA.
