The programme is international, which means that we are open to applicants without qualifications in Swedish language. The language of instruction will be, if required, English. The education aims to develop and inspire your personal artistry as an improvising and composing musician, as well as to give you the prerequisites required to gain a strong identity in today's music industry. You will have individual lessons in your main instrument, and great emphasis is on developing your ability to perform with others. The ensemble courses offer a wide field of improvisational music that often transcend genres. We start from a broad interpretation of the concept of jazz – as a language and historical context or as a mind-set, a musical gathering where we are in a state of constant motion and change.

A vast variety of courses in mathematics, statistics and numerical analysis are available within the programme and can be combined with courses from all other science areas, economics and finance, engineering, humanities and social sciences available at our university or within an exchange programme with other universities. The Bachelor of Fine Arts programme at Malmö Art Academy provides preparation for an international career. We take your own artistic work as the starting point in teaching theoretical and practical subjects. The programme consists of individual work in your own studio, individual tutoring from professors and other teaching staff, and timetabled courses in the major fields of artistic technique, artistic creation and art theory. Our internationally active professors work in a range of different artistic fields. This leads to important interaction at Malmö Art Academy and also gives you the opportunity to choose courses that reflect your artistic intentions.

This programme prepares the student for a future profession in academic or industrial biomedical research and combines theory and practice from science and medicine. The aim is to give the students an understanding of molecular mechanisms, biomedical methods and human biology, as well as to enable them to apply knowledge and competences on problems that are relevant to the origin and treatment of human disease. The teachers are active biomedical research scientists and the education runs with an international focus to prepare the students for a global labour market. Biomedical knowledge is an increasingly important part of everyday life, from personal health to politics.

The Bachelor’s programme in Development Studies is interdisciplinary and focuses on economic, social and political processes and their links to development cooperation. The aim is to provide the knowledge needed in order to critically examine and understand the preconditions for, and process of, development. The programme draws on four different scientific traditions: sociology, political science, human geography and economic history. Students gain background knowledge needed to prepare for graduate and doctoral studies, as well as working in development-related fields at government agencies, private firms or NGOs.
