In this program, you’ll explore the creative possibilities of contemporary printmaking and publications. You’ll create innovative works in fine art print, books and independent publications in our studios with Relief; Letterpress; Intaglio; Screenprinting; Lithography; Digital media; Risography; Publishing facilities on campus. You’ll also work in the field outside the classroom. You’ll learn entrepreneurial skills through field trips, book fairs, exhibitions, print exchanges and professional partnerships.

This degree is offered by the School of Fine Arts that is committed to creating an intersection between educational activity and the various professional industries connected with the disciplines. You can develop your creative skills and study the practice of visual and digital arts with an Art and Design degree. Subjects include Animation, Digital Design, Fashion Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design and Product Design.

MICA’s Printmaking major offers a comprehensive print media education delivered in an incredible new 20,000 sq ft facility dedicated to the art of Print, Book and Paper.

Printmaking offers a range of traditional and contemporary approaches which include relief, intaglio, digital and alternative printmaking.

Our printmaking studio, one of the best in the Southeast, is equipped for relief, intaglio, screen printing, and lithography (stone and plate) printmaking on our four print presses. We even have a press to print letterpress for artist books, broadsides, and more.

You will benefit from studying photography at Canada's largest art, design and media university, where you will select electives from a wide range of creative areas. These include electives in Sculpture/Installation, Printmaking and Drawing & Painting, among many others.

The Art Academy’s large, well-equipped print media facility provides opportunities for students to express their creativity. Our print media major emphasizes traditional approaches invigorated by new technologies. Students are introduced to a full range of techniques, including monoprints, relief, lithography, intaglio, screen printing, letterpress, and book arts.

The Typography courses provide students with an understanding of the integral use of typography in the overall design concept. Type as a communicative and creative element is explored. Students become familiar with the organizational skills necessary for clear communication as well as the formative aspects of typographic symbols and arrangement.

In Sculpture/Installation program, you will learn the skills to create installations - works of art designed for public spaces. You will use the fabrication studios to explore hands-on and digital creation.
