The Bachelors in Aeronautics program is the most comprehensive pilot degree program in CAU’s School of Aviation. Students learn the fundamentals of meteorology, aerodynamics, flight safety, aircraft performance, aviation weather, aircraft maintenance, aeronautical science, and aviation management. With up to four days a week of actual flying, students gain enough ground and flight instruction to earn six different aviation licenses/ratings upon graduation. The variety of licenses earned in the bachelors in aeronautics program (private pilot, instrument-rated pilot, certified flight instructor, certified flight instructor instrument, and commercial pilot-single and multi-engine) gives graduates a wider range of employment options to choose from. Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in aeronautics program may be eligible to receive a 500- hour reduction in their FAA-mandated Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) flight hour requirement (normally 1500 hours) and the opportunity to interview for a flight instructor position.
