The goal of the Photography/Digital Media program is to graduate competent lens-based artists with a broad range of media skills. You will be prepared for advanced study in studio art or film and learn tools for building an entrepreneurial photographic practice or another career trajectory.

With the photography minor at SUNY Plattsburgh, you will have the opportunity to work in a classic darkroom, processing film and printing your own black and white photographs. The knowledge gained in beginning classes transfers to digital image making in labs with state-of-the-art Apple Macintosh computers and fine art printers. Design and art history classes round out your understanding of where photography fits in the art world and in your world, as well.

The program is implemented in a state-of-the-art digital facility and also maintains traditional and alternative process darkrooms.
