At MRU, we offer bachelor studies in English for Specific Purposes and the Second Foreign Language – a high-end education of 3 and a half years, perfect for those seeking to enter into the fascinating field of philology and to find work in a multicultural environment.  

This program in BA in Slavonic Studies (Russian Philology) Slavic Philology (specialty: Russian Philology) is aimed at training specialists in the field of Russian language and literature. Students will learn how to work with complex texts related to different areas of cultural and social life. The program includes courses in linguistics, history, and theory of literature, Russian culture and art, and regional studies of Russia. The uniqueness of this program lies in the fact that students are also offered a module to study business Russian and business communication. Successful completion of this module enables graduates to be competitive specialists outside the scientific philological profile.

The Degree in BA in Romance Philology and Cultures (Specialization in French Studies) Licence en philologie romane (Spécialité d’Études françaises) intends to train experts in the humanities with in-depth knowledge and skills regarding French and Francophone language, literature, linguistics, and civilization.

The Hispanic Studies (BA) program in BA in Romance Philology and Cultures (Specialization in Spanish Studies) Neo-Latin Languages ​​and Cultures, specialty in Hispanic Studies (Neolatin Languages ​​and Cultures, mention Hispanic Studies) of the Department of Hispanic and Ibero-American Studies of the Institute of Romance Studies of the University of Pécs consists of 180 ECTS credits distributed in 1) Introduction Module: Humanities and Social Sciences ( 12 ECTS) 2) Basic and Core Subjects module (108 ECTS) 3) Specialization in Language for Specific Purposes (50 ECTS) 4) Block of Elective Courses (10 ECTS). The program lasts for three years (six semesters).

The degree in Applied Galician and Spanish Philology offers specialized training in the field of Galician and Spanish languages and literature so that people who are studying these studies can apply their knowledge and values to the progress of society through the use of digital tools and a complementary command of modern languages (such as English, French, German or Portuguese). He uses the term Philology understood as the collaboration between various disciplines and subdisciplines always focused on the word and its texts, and the adjective Applied, since it uses the knowledge of basic science for its practical application.

The Bachelor in English Philology programme offers students the solid written and spoken communication skills required for workplace success in English (C1–C2), as well as the fundamentals of English linguistics, literature and the culture of English-speaking countries.

The BA in English Philology is a three-year programme for those who want to turn language passion into a global career. You’ll master English at an advanced level and gain skills in communication, translation, intercultural competence and digital tools for language professionals.

“All roads lead to Rome!" This ancient saying is still relevant today. The Italian language, literature, and culture can open up many diverse paths. Students of Bachelor in Italian Philology will learn the Italian language professionally, and become familiar with the history of Italy, and the history of Italian literature and language.

The Bachelor in Spanish Philology programme is open to candidates with no Spanish proficiency. Learning of the Spanish language shall commence upon the student’s admission. The program offers students the solid written and spoken communication skills required for workplace success in Spanish (C1), as well as a knowledge of the fundamentals of Spanish linguistics, literature and the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. The curriculum includes a diverse range of course units that are designed to help students develop their language skills, including the advanced writing, speaking and research skills needed to become successful.

The Bachelor in Russian Philology programme is open to candidates with no Russian proficiency. Learning of the Russian language shall commence upon the student’s admission. Studies with a perfect balance of language and literature also provide knowledge of Slavic culture and ties between Russian literature and culture and Lithuania.

At the University of Pécs, Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, you can study Italian Language and Literature as an independent course in BA in Romance Philology and Cultures (Specialization in Italian Studies) Filologia romanza e cultura neolatina BA (Specializzazione in studi italiani) of study. Graduates will develop specific knowledge and skills through theory and practice to start a profitable working application in the field of Italian culture and language with the development of various basic skills, didactic research, international development, and special educational needs. Furthermore, the course gives candidates the opportunity to access fields of study and work ranging from tourism to the various levels and modalities of the mass media, information, and communication, as well as moving competently in the field of cultural heritage and the vast universe of Italian culture spread throughout the world.

The aim of the program is to train competent, academically literate professionals well-versed in the fundamental aspects of the English language, including an ability to provide linguistic analyses, as well as in both the historical and the synchronic aspects of Anglophone cultures and literatures.

We train professionals who have a high capacity for expression and understanding of the English language, and a sufficient knowledge of French as a second language, promoting the acquisition of linguistic, literary and cultural knowledge of English-speaking countries and new technologies related to these studies.

The program is in full compliance with the university mission – “to be engaged in the process of knowledge production and person’s education. The program combines theoretical instruction with the practical application of knowledge and skills. Its aim is to produce graduates with an advanced level of language competence - proficient users of English (C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) who are capable of communicating in English in various communicative contexts and in various types of institutions.
