Essential to music theory majors are skills in harmony and voice leading, music analysis and instrumentation, as well as instrument studies. As a bachelor’s student, you will also study aural skills and music history.

Trevecca’s Bachelor of Music in theory and composition is a professional degree accredited by the National Association of the Schools of Music which equips you with knowledge and skills in both traditional and technological compositional methods. You’ll be prepared to compose for traditional genres as well as for commercials, television, movies, and video games.

The BFA in Music Scoring & Composition is designed for those students who wish to focus on music composition and scoring for film, television, games, and other visual media. Balancing musicianship training with production skills to reflect a changing music industry, students will learn music theory, composition, harmony, orchestration, and arranging, focusing on creating emotion through music in synchronization with visual media.

Designed for students who are called to work as full-time or bi-vocational worship leaders, the Bachelor of Science in music and worship equips students to lead and shepherd congregations to glorify God through music and worship. Trevecca’s Bachelor of Science in music and worship equips students with a strong foundation in worship theology, spiritual formation, servant leadership, worship methodology, music theory, and musical performance. This degree prepares the worship professional to become a skilled worship artist, worship leader, and/or worship pastor who shepherds a local church congregation to glorify God through music and worship.

Our Jazz Programme ‘New York Comes to Groningen’, offered by Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, is unique in the world for two reasons:1. Alongside the strong Groningen staff, top New York artists travel to Groningen to teach in our programme on a rotating schedule. Every week of the year, you’ll be able to learn from another New York artist, allowing you to develop yourself into a professional jazz artist.2. All students (bachelor and master) work with all of the NY-artists, irrespective of the student’s instrument. Bachelor’s courses include theory, ear training, composing, arranging and a wide variety of workshops. In addition, there are ongoing weekly lessons from a world-class Dutch faculty.
