Acceptance into this degree is selective and is based on an audition on the student’s primary instrument. Students in this degree program are exempt from the requirement to complete a minor or focus.

The BM in performance is a four-year program consisting of course work in the major (individual instruction, performance class, major conducted ensemble, chamber music), core music studies (theory, aural skills, music history, conducting), and a minimum of 30 credits outside the School of Music that will provide a broad education in the spirit of the Liberal Arts Foundation. A junior and senior recital is required.
