The predecessor of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Yancheng Institute of Technology was established in 1996 by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Yancheng Technical College and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Yancheng Vocational University. In order to promote education and teaching reform, the school established Youji College in 2005; in July 2013, the School of Mechanical Engineering, Youji Colleges merge. In 1958, the college began to enroll college students in the mechanism major, and in 1996 it began enrolling undergraduates. Now there are 8 professional departments of mechanical design and manufacturing and its automation, process equipment, and control engineering, as well as mechanical basic course groups, experiment centers, and engineering training centers. There are 119 faculty members, including 13 with senior professional titles, 46 with deputy senior titles, 53 with doctoral degrees (including current students), 2 provincial teaching teachers, 1 provincial teacher ethics model.

Mechanical Engineering at B.I.T., ranking among the best among domestic universities, is a national program. This program, with mechanics and mechanical engineering as the main subjects, prepares students with basic theory and professional knowledge in mechanical engineering and industrial engineering together with scientific thinking methods and the ability to deal with science and technology problems.

The School of Mechanical Engineering is one of the earliest undergraduate colleges established in the school. It is the advanced collective of Shaanxi Province Teachers' Ethics Construction, the governing unit of the Shaanxi Mechanical Engineering Society, and the backing college for the international exchange project between the school and the French YNCREA Engineering University. The college currently has 80 faculty members, including 62 full-time teachers, 7 administrative staff, and 11 experimental and practical teachers. There are 42 associate professors/senior engineers or above in the faculty, and more than 97% of the teachers have a master's degree or above. It has 1 teaching team of "Machinery Design, Manufacturing and Automation Course Group" in Shaanxi Province, 1 advanced individual in teaching management of Shaanxi colleges and universities, 2 school-level teaching teachers, and 16 school-level outstanding teachers. There are more than 1,100 graduate and undergraduate students in the school, and graduates are located in more than 10 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country. The college now has one master's degree in mechanical engineering, and three undergraduate majors in mechanical design and manufacturing and automation, industrial design, and automotive service engineering. In 2010, the major of "Machinery Design, Manufacturing and Automation" was approved as the "National Characteristic Professional Construction Site" by the Ministry of Education. In 2017, it was approved as the "First-Class Major in Shaanxi Province" construction project. In 2020, it was approved as the "First-Class Major in Shaanxi Province". The college has 1 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center "Mechanical Engineering Training Center", 1 provincial-level talent training model innovation experimental area, "Mechanical and electrical applied talent training model innovation experimental area", and 1 provincial mechanical engineering virtual simulation experiment teaching Center, 1 provincial-level mechanical engineering experimental teaching demonstration center, 2 provincial-level virtual simulation experimental teaching projects, 1 school-level scientific research platform "Xijing College-Huazhong CNC Intelligent Manufacturing R&D Center", which can meet all engineering professional internships and experiments of the school Teaching needs.

The Mechanical-Electronic Engineering program of B.I.T. is an interdisciplinary program based on machinery manufacturing, electrical engineering, and computer science.

Mechanical engineers are proficient in the related principles of force, energy, and motion, and use them in the design and development of industrial equipment systems. Mechanical engineers play an important role in designing and manufacturing types of products and equipment, such as automobiles, airplanes, medical and energy equipment, and they all play a central role in different fields. Mechanical engineering students have many specialization directions to choose from, such as system dynamic control, thermal fluid science, design and manufacturing, medical and biological engineering, electronic engineering, micro-nano, and nuclear engineering.

The undergraduate training program is a concentrated expression of the educational thought and school-running philosophy of colleges and universities. It is a specific program for achieving talent training goals and training specifications, and also an important basis for teaching management. The 2018 undergraduate training program was revised in the context of promoting quality education, improving the credit system, and reforming the teacher education training model.

We are focusing on developing students with great scientific theory and practical skills in a future career. Besides the compulsory courses in this programme, you can take optional subjects you like. Many of our graduates work in engineering design, manufacturing, development, operating management, and sales for domestic and global companies. Some prefer to do further research in machinery design.
