Latin American Studies is dedicated to the study of the history, societies, and cultures of Latin America, Latino/a/x populations in the United States, and the Hispanic and Francophone Caribbean. The Latin American Studies Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) program provides an excellent foundation for graduate study in the humanities, social sciences, and law, non-profit organizations, and international business, which is an important qualification to work with the growing Hispanic population. Latin American Studies is an interdisciplinary program which involves a variety of fields, including Africana studies, anthropology, Spanish, French and Portuguese language, literature and culture, history, philosophy, and political science. It also includes substantial training and education in Spanish, French and/or Portuguese. Students may either earn a Major (Bachelor of Arts) or a Minor in Latin American Studies.
