The Department of Astrophysics and Atmospheric Sciences in the Faculty of Science aims to nurture the kind of individuals that the university seeks to nurture outlined in the school philosophy of Kyoto Sangyo University into people with the ability to understand and elucidate various physical phenomena, on a scale ranging from the atmosphere of the Earth to the universe as a whole, as well as the ability to apply and convey the specialized knowledge acquired.

It is important to understand how others think about specific subjects (understanding others) during the course of interaction with others in order to find one’s own thoughts. Diverse philosophical approaches are used in the four-year course of study to help students understand their own thoughts and actions (self-understanding).

The study of history is an academic discipline that seeks to provide narratives of the past by examining diverse historical materials from the perspective of the individual historian. Students develop the ability to read and understand historical documents, grasp the issues of the contemporary world from a historical perspective and comprehend the meaning that past events have for the modern world.

We provide education that provides in-depth knowledge and technical expertise with regard to devices, communications, measurement, energy, and control with a focus on electric engineering and electronic engineering, both of which contribute to the convenience and prosperity of modern society. By doing so, we foster creative engineers and researchers with expertise and an extensive range of perspectives.

In this program, students study both computer science (CS), through which they learn the fundamentals for handling hardware and software, and computer engineering (CE), through which they strive to create new systems through the application of the fundamentals. It is entirely possible to forge a path to a better society by providing its citizens with a full command of the communication nervous system, and the information it conveys.

The students in this department study all aspects of Buddhism, including its philosophy, history, and culture, with the aim of developing their sensibilities to observe and empathize with others.
