The establishment of Faculty of Engineering of Yogyakarta State University was started by opening B I/II course program in the year of 1956. This course program was aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching and educator staffs of vocational schools in Indonesia which was conducted by the Ministry of Education and Culture such as in Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya.

Bachelor degree program of design studies in Architecture or Sarjana Arsitektur (S.Ars) is 4 years program pre-professional program which has four years duration (8 semesters). This program has totally 150 credits with 8 integrated studios in every semester as curriculum backbone and supported by groups of courses in institutional characters, building sciences and technology, history and urbanism, architectural communication, and advocacy and professions.

The curriculum is designed based on Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI) that has been established by Forum Manajemen Indonesia (FMI) which emphasizes the role of educators and professionals as mentors and gives the students opportunities to develop their own talents and interests independently.

UKDW Architecture Department’s 2016 Curriculum is the improved version of 2008’s curriculum by applying Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI) to the competencies given in the Architecture Undergraduate Program. These competencies refer to 13 Architect Competencies by Union Internationale des Architectes – International Union of Architects (UIA) that are also adopted by Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) and the Indonesian Institute of Architects as Indonesia’s Architect Profession Organization. In this 2016 curriculum, the integration of architect’s competence focuses on a series of studio practice-based subjects, which are Architecture Design Studio and Construction Structure Studio.

Textile Engineering is a new Study Program at Universitas Islam Indonesia’s Faculty of Industrial Engineering. It was established based on the Decision Letter of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Culture) Number: 825/KPT/I/2019 and is a pioneering Study Program and the only one that offers Bachelor Degree (S1) for Textile Engineering in Indonesia.

In the year of 1961, there was a fundamental change for B I/ II Engineering course based on Minister of Education and Culture’s Decree no. 7/1981 dated 7 February 1961. And based on mentioned decree, the name was changed into FKIP Bagian Teknik (Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan bagian Teknik or Engineering Division of Faculty of Teacher Education and Educational Sciences) which was part of Gajah Mada University. Faculty of Engineering of Yogyakarta State University commemorates this moment as its anniversary.

The Product Design Department aims to develop graduates who are competent in their profession as product designer in accordance with ADPPI (Aliansi Desainer Produk Industri Indonesia), a profession organization, and also refers to the design principles required by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID). The department equips students with subjects in the field of traditional product design (craftsmanship) and modern industrial product design.

There were four aspects of aid which was donated through World Bank Education Program IV, i.e. (1) the constructing of new building completed with lecturing offices, labs, and workshops; (2) improving lecturers competencies through domestic and foreign training; (3) fund for development and implementation program; (4) educational consultant support (expert from abroad).

Ull’s Management Study Program has received A accreditation from the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) and implemented a new curriculum based on the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI) designed to produce applicative skills (hard skills) as well as communication and socialization skills (soft skills). As an effort to improve the quality of international-leveled education, Ull’s Management Study Program has been preparing for international accreditation, and students will be equipped with international and strategic elective courses for each area of specialization.
