The study programme provides a complex education in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) and the use of these techniques for environmental protection and management, with a special focus on the current topics of water and drought in the landscape and protection of biodiversity under the condition of a global climate change.

Data science is the main driver for innovation in the coming years. In geosciences, there has been an explosion of data collected from various sources. Sensors, satellites and computer simulations offer the opportunity to explore our planet in unprecedented detail. Smart agriculture, virtual remote sensing labs and early warning systems for natural hazards are just a few examples of the growing number of environmental applications that capitalize on our data wealth.

The Bachelor study programme Forestry, specialization in Forest Ecosystems Protection and Silviculture can be studied full-time or part-time. The three-year study provides a comprehensive education in biological, ecological, and technical subjects. The aim is to provide all students with broad theoretical knowledge regarding all the functions of forest ecosystems, their interconnectedness and their importance within 21st-century society. Also, the role of society in the management of natural resources and the use of these natural resources, including the role of forestry in the so-called bioeconomy, with the strong social aspect of sustainable use of forest ecosystems.
