The Department of Economics offers a curriculum structured to cover both theoretical and applied aspects of the field.

The mission of the Istanbul Medipol Economics and Finance program is to provide world-class undergraduate education through a curriculum that integrates theory and practice, by a dynamic faculty who have local and international experience in both academia and industry.

The most important feature of the International Trade and Finance Department is organized with interdisciplinary educational content at the common denominator of finance, economics, and business administration. Therefore, graduates will start their careers as an individual who has the qualification to invest in the international markets as well as being a good economist who has the ability for analytical thinking.

In recent years, Turkey has taken on an increasingly significant role in the globalizing economy. Foreign investors, attracted by the financial opportunities available, have launched an ever-growing number of offices in Turkey, particularly in Istanbul.

The economics program offers its students both a technical and practical education based on numerical methods. As with leading universities around the world, the program is in English. Students are offered the opportunity to specialize in international economics, econometrics, management, finance and economics. In addition, they will gain experience with internship applications during their undergraduate education.

In the Department of Economics, we aim to educate individuals who can understand the various economic phenomena in the economy, and use economic data and information to comment and analyze these phenomena. One of the primary aims of our education is to provide our students with necessary problem-solving skills so that they can develop solutions to economic problems of the individuals and the society by using their knowledge of economics.

The aim of the Business Administration program at MEF University is to graduate managers and entrepreneurs with qualities and competencies needed to achieve sustainable economic growth in Turkey and beyond in the 21st century.

Economics is often described as the study of how individuals, groups, societies make or should make choices when resources are scarce. The concepts and tools of economic analysis are increasingly used in a variety of fields such as management science or political science, government, law, or international relations.

Our undergraduate program provides students with a rich and rigorous foundation in all fields of economics. Equipping students with systematic and independent thinking skills is our primary goal. The courses we offer aim to strike a good balance between providing both an analytical perspective through rigorous courses in economic theory and quantitative skills geared towards policy applications.

Our target is to give our graduates the ability of understanding and analyzing the contemporary subjects and problems of the Turkish and world economy with the appropriate methods.

Thanks to the flexibility in course selection and course variety, our students will not only be able to enrich their course program by taking courses in fields other than Economics, but also will be able to complete the 4-year 240 ECTS Bachelor education in 3 years.

The objectives of the department are to supply an overall and comprehensive outlook on economic issues, to develop analytical skills to understand macroeconomic and microeconomic issues, to provide mathematical and statistical methods in analysing economic phenomena, to improve research skills for analysing economic and social phenomena.

The objective of the program is to prepare the students giving them contemporary business knowledge for doing scientific researches, reaching new information, assessing the knowledge, interpreting and producing original knowledge, and thus having important tasks and responsibilities in the management of institutions that have great impacts on the society and business life.
