In times of social, environmental, and technological change, the media play an important role in shaping how we perceive and engage with the world. From personal devices to large-scale public screens, media connect private and public spheres. In the bachelor's degree programme Creative Media Production, you build the skills for sound and image production with cultural and human sensitivity.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative and Digital Arts (Music/Visual Arts) is the first undergraduate programme in Hong Kong to offer arts management and cultural studies components to complement discipline-based training in the creative arts. It aims to develop community-based artists who are able to work across a range of established art forms and contribute to the promotion and development of the arts and arts education in the local, regional, and international cultural and creative industries. Students will focus on one core arts discipline of either Music or Visual Arts.

The BA (Hons) Creative Media Arts* is an innovative undergraduate programme that prepares students to work at the intersection of contemporary art, digital media and emerging technologies. Through a practical, interdisciplinary approach connected to industry, the programme equips you to create projects in video, photography, interactive media extended realities, sound, installation and hybrid narratives.

The BACM major crosses the boundaries between different digital media arts practices and combines critical studies and creative practice. You will acquire both breadth learning and specialist training in media arts and study courses in photography, computational art, gaming and interactive media, sound, animation, film and media art installation.

Our Creative Media Arts BA Honours is an exciting hands-on course that will see you produce art and make content including films, photographs, interactive installations, and immersive and digital media using creative technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), projection mapping, 3D modelling, and game engines.

The Studio Art/ Art History major provides students with the opportunity to develop their artistic and creative abilities while gaining a global perspective on the arts.

Creative Arts and Technology Excellence (CREATE) is one of the Flagship Programmes offered by CityUHK. It aims to nourish students’ creativity and excellence in arts and technology through a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary curriculum spanning media arts, computer science, design, digital technologies, cultural studies, and leadership.

This studio-based creative arts degree places making at its heart. You'll gain a practical grounding in a range of creative fields of study, including ceramics, textiles, print, and wood/metal/plastics, before choosing your specialism. You’ll also explore the critical, conceptual, ethical, and environmental issues in contemporary craft through the role of making within social, cultural, and historical contexts. 

This is a track to enhance solid media skills and academic knowledge before you commit to any major studies. You will have a free choice of majors (BA Creative Media, BSc Creative Media, and BAS New Media) at the end of the first year of study.

Our programme delivers interdisciplinary teaching by crossing the boundaries among digital media, design and computer science, which bridges creative and technical sides of computer-based media art production. Students will be trained in computer graphics, digital imaging, mobile media, user-interface (UI) and user-experience (UX) design, computer games and interactive media.

Working at the intersection of art, design and technology, this course in Creative Intelligence & Innovation will enable you to understand and respond to the rapidly changing world around us, and to produce work of your own that engages with, and responds to, the challenges posed by these changes. The theoretical understanding provided by this course serves to support and drive innovation and experimentation in a range of creative disciplines and mediums.

The Studio Art Option offers students experience in a broad range of art disciplines, with emphasis on understanding fundamentals of art, developing their skills and appreciating the purposes and concepts of art.

The BAS major is a unique programme that fosters interdisciplinary enquiry, balances theoretical knowledge and practical skills in new media arts, connects technological and scientific concepts and methods to creative practices, offers signature courses in Arts Tech, and prepares students for jobs in new media arts and creative industries

Our Integrated Foundation Year course is the ideal choice for a student looking to pursue an undergraduate degree in the creative arts. It will give you the grounding, tools, practical skills and confidence to succeed in your chosen Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at CSVPA with an enhanced knowledge and understanding of specialist techniques and materials.

The Graphic Design BA aims to provide an intellectual and creative space for you to explore and develop a wide range of skills and understanding of the discipline of graphic design. This is applied through a variety of current and emerging technologies and processes for visual communication. The evolving and fluid forms of published and experiential exchanges include interactions with audiences and users across digital, physical, and virtual environments. The breadth and range of the facilities and processes available support creative learning that is interdisciplinary, collaborative and professional – embracing technologies and practices found in current industry work environments. This course offers a flexible, interdisciplinary, and multi-faceted approach to the study of contemporary graphic design practice across a broad range of contexts and projects that are industry-facing as well as experimental, discipline-critical and research-led. It will prepare you with the highest level of practical and employable skills, knowledge and visual understanding required to both work and lead in this sector of the creative industry today. Study and learning on the course are encouraging, inclusive and supportive, fostering your aptitudes and individual expression in the work you produce while offering wide and in-depth visual inquiry and experimentation. Throughout the course, there is a wide range of optional choice modules that support individualised creative agility, enabling you to be flexible and resilient while also making you industry ready to adapt your practice rapidly within evolving employments, periods of change, new and emerging communication and societal driven exchanges and technologies. The course fosters the development of employability skills and knowledge as well as work-based learning opportunities from your first year through to the final stages of the course. Two options reinforce and augment this ethos: either a year-long professional placement or internship nationally or a year overseas in either an academic or work environment. The course has a strong professional focus and connections in conjunction with the University’s award-winning Westminster Enterprise Network, supporting all aspects of employability, from training, professional practice, self-promotion, work experience, interviewing and job opportunities.
